Hi my name is Sarah Dower and I am a Personal Trainer in North Melbourne and Inner City areas.

I originally wanted to be a Chiropractor or Physiotherapist. I went on to complete the first year of a science degree, with the aim to head in this direction, and was fascinated by the science, and how the human body works, so I went on to complete my Honors and Masters degrees in Biomedical Science, and worked in pharmaceutical development at CSL. I still have a fascination for science and health.

After leaving the lab, I spent almost 15 years working in sales, and moving into a national role, I became acutely aware of the effects of today's largely sedentary and stressful lifestyles on our health. With my science background, I understand the importance of staying fit, and keeping healthy, but have even struggled to maintain this myself.

After seeing first hand the benefits of yoga, exercise/fitness, meditation and nutrition can have on the body, I aim to empower others, and help them live a healthy lifestyle. I have over 5 years experience as a yoga teacher, and am also a qualified barre instructor, and meditation teacher and qualified as a personal trainer in 2020.

Favorite movie or TV series

Suits, as I’m fascinated by how much controversy seems to go on in that office (there never seemed to be that much office entertainment and controversy when I had a corporate job).
My favorite exercise
 
A good vinyasa flow class, as it gets your heart rate up, builds core strength, and gives you a good stretch at the end.  But if I had to choose one single exercise, a kettle bell swing is right up there.  When done properly, a kettlebell swing can work a huge number of muscles.
My Favorite piece of training equipment
A mat, or perhaps resistance bands.  Body weight exercises and exercises with a band are so versatile, and you can carry them anywhere and work the whole body.
