So ten years ago I decided to do something about it and joined a gym. Under the instruction of one of Australia's better know trainers I then discovered functional fitness. This improved my energy, strength and endurance beyond what I could ever have imagined. Even though I started later than most, I became fitter than I'd ever been.

Back when I was at school I decided I wanted to lose 10kg that was my goal and nothing was going to stop me till I reached it, so I started eating more healthy and in my lunch time rather then sitting around I began going in the school gym with the boy's bench pressing and trying to lift as much weight as them. That of course never happened. After losing the 10kg and achieving my goal I started playing soccer and baseball also loved running and rock climbing.

Honestly, I commenced training with Veena 10 years ago on the basis that if I tried one session, and didn't like it, I could be left in peace to continue my own exercise program. My wife had been training with Veena for some months, and was so impressed, that she was persistent in recommending her, over and over. I begrudgingly had my first session and have never looked back!
With a history of open heart surgery, and knowing I had to have a valve replacement in the near future, I worked closely with Veena to increase my well being. I went into my latest surgery 2 years ago feeling fit, strong and robust. The surgery went well and I was allowed to skip the over 60s and over 50s rehabilitation sessions. The doctors said I was too fit. I was told to "go home and keep doing whatever I have been doing." So I did.

I commenced at 5 years of age playing soccer in a boys team and being the first female soccer referee in the Eastern Suburbs. I reached state levels, for soccer, swimming and volleyball and started training at gyms at very early age.
